The List

“If you didn’t know you needed it before you saw it, then you probably don’t need it.” (A quote from Dave Corning, Betsy’s wise husband)

• If a child believes they need something and you agree, the item goes on "The List."
• The next time you are at the appropriate store, look for it.
• If they suddenly see something and want it, it is usually just an impulse. You can tell them, “It’s not on The List.”
• Make rare exceptions as needed, but make sure they are rare.
• This system teaches a child to plan ahead, keep track of what they need, and to not give in to impulse spending.
