Have you been taking an Entrusted class this Fall? If you have, you know the first memory verse is Psalm 127:1 which says, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain".

Psalm 127 is a microcosm of God's design for the family and to live apart from this design is vanity. Another book of the Bible has this predominant theme that to live for this life and not eternity is vanity and striving after the wind. It is the book of Ecclesiastes which was written by Solomon. Ecclesiastes is a picture of our longing for heaven. We don't live life for what this world has to offer but we "seek the city that is to come" (Heb. 13:14).

It should not surprise you to learn that Solomon also wrote Psalm 127. Of course when he says, "Unless the Lord builds the house," he is not talking about a physical building, but he is referring to our families. So unless the Lord builds our family, we labor in vain to build it.

When we follow God's design, there is purpose and meaning to the things we do. Our obedience in following the Lord is the pledge of our belief. In what way are you demonstrating your pledge of belief today?
